Bluetooth Control

Use Remote as a Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad for another iPad.

Download on the App Store

Remote can act as a Bluetooth HID keyboard and mouse, letting you steer another iPad without Wi-Fi, helper apps, or cables. Pair once, then reconnect automatically whenever Bluetooth is on.

Setup

  1. On the device you will use as a remote, open Remote, tap the list button, and choose “Control via Bluetooth” to start advertising as a keyboard/trackpad.
  2. On the iPad you want to control, open Remote app -> more menu button -> “Control via Bluetooth” and connect to the device named <Your iPhone/iPad>.
  3. Accept the pairing prompts on both devices. When the overlay disappears in Remote app, you are connected and ready to input.
  4. Next time, just open Remote on both devices; they reconnect automatically while Bluetooth stays enabled.

Trackpad & Mouse

Use the trackpad tab to move the iPad pointer with low latency. Gestures match the regular input view: tap to click, two-finger tap for right-click, three-finger tap for middle-click, two-finger pan to scroll, and pinch to zoom where supported by the target app. Long-press the left button to lock it for dragging items.

Keyboard

Tap the keyboard button to type on the connected iPad. Modifier keys (Command, Option, Control, Shift) are available above the keyboard, and holding a modifier locks it until you tap again. The layout adapts to QWERTY, AZERTY, or QWERTZ based on the active keyboard on the iPad you control, so characters and accents are sent with the correct scan codes.

Keypads

Switch to the keypad tab to access quick actions tailored for iPad - volume, media, arrows, and other common controls - without leaving the Bluetooth session. Use the segmented control at the top of the keypad screen to jump between layouts.

Troubleshooting

  1. Make sure Bluetooth permission is granted to Control on both devices (Settings -> Control -> Bluetooth).
  2. If the target iPad cannot see your device, toggle Bluetooth off/on on both devices and reopen Remote app.
  3. If pairing prompts fail, forget the accessory on the target iPad and pair again from Settings -> Bluetooth.
  4. Keep Remote in the foreground for the first connection; backgrounding during the initial pairing can stop the iPad from subscribing to input.
